How we work

SUPPLY CHAIN

WE KNOW EVERYTHING ABOUT OUR TOMATO

The tomatoes of our farmers are always controlled, from the seed to the finished product. We closely follow every phase of the chain, we leave nothing to chance.

We want consumers to know everything about our product. For this purpose, we have implemented a final-consumer-oriented tool, able to register and trace back all the information from the cultivation to the finished product.

CONSORZIO CASALASCO DEL POMODORO IS SYNONYMOUS OF:

  1. Cross analysis on soil, seeds and genetics
  2. Harvest at an average distance of 50 km from the plant
  3. Controlled and certified processing

SAFETY? IT BEGINS IN OUR AGRONOMY DEPARTMENT

Our agronomists oversee all steps: from the seedling, transplanting, cultivation up to crop, granting a natural product, 100% Italian, certified for use of GMO free seeds.
Since 2009 all farms producing fresh tomatoes for Casalasco, have been certified GlobalGap (Good Agricultural Practices) as for environmental aspects such as soil and waste management, the product (irrigation techniques, crop protection, different crop methods and post crop treatments), the health and safety of workers and their working conditions.

For farms employing workers, the Globalgap certification has been integrated with ETI (Ethical Trade Initiative) since 2012. The standard covers aspects concerning working safety, human and worker rights. In order to maintain tranparency and confidence with associates, clients, partner and local community, Casalasco drafts the Environmental Declaration to foster a proper comprehension and assessment of the results and performances of the company.

In 2013 Casalasco joined United Nations Global Compact, a policy initiative embracing 10 universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption, which can help ensure businesses, which join it, to be aligned on operations and strategies.

THE FIRST FOOD COMPANY TO ACHIEVE THE SOCIAL FOOTPRINT CERTIFICATION.

Thanks to this project, we can share with you the information on our tomato social impacts along the whole supply chain, from the field to the table, as we believe that guaranteeing the rights of people working for and with us is essential. Health, respect, legality, enduring relationships: here are our ingredients for a product being good from any point of view.

Social Footprint is the first certification assessing the social footprint of the product all along the supply chain and allowing the consumer to choose with more and more awareness, also considering “human aspects”.

Here you can consult the detailed Label of “Social Footprint – Product Social Identity” certification.

40 YEARS OF PASSION AND EXPERIENCE

These are the elements that helped us become the first Italian tomato producer and processer.
